Candidate auditions will occur on Monday 10/16, Thursday 10/19, and Wednesday 10/25. Auditions will begin promptly at 6:30pm, and last for approximately one hour. The auditions will be arranged somewhat similarly to a worship service, giving the candidates an opportunity to play a prelude and postlude, lead the congregation in hymn singing and liturgical singing, and rehearse a small choir on a choral piece. We invite you to participate in two ways: first, to join us in singing hymns and liturgy (or even to join in with the choir!); second, to provide the search committee with written commentary on what you heard. This is a great time to meet someone new and provide the very valuable service of keeping the church in good physical shape. We will be engaged in some painting, cleaning, a little carpentry, some outdoor gardening (weather dependent) and general cleaning tasks so there is a chore for all levels of talent and experience. Also, if you can only manage an hour or so, you are still welcome to drop by. I can assure you that no one in the history of work days has had a bad time. I've had a shirt stained by wisteria clippings and Maarten Henkes has lost a rake (broken by the author) but those are the only two events which go against a tradition of fellowship and the blessing of taking care of the gift we have in our physical property. We will provide the lunch, often pizza, and the beverages, which as a matter of tradition includes beer (sometimes home-brewed) and a wider-than-average variety of soft drinks. If anyone has a truck, and would be willing to provide its services, we usually generate some yard waste to be hauled away. We will be happy to reimburse for mileage.
